The National Centre for Palms & Dates, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, has opened registration for the electronic Seasonal Markets Platform. Launched in 2023, the platform aims to regulate date trading and streamline operations across the Kingdom’s seasonal markets.

Registration on the platform is a prerequisite for conducting sales operations in seasonal date markets. It provides several benefits that improve trading processes, including: allowing contracts and agreements to be documented on a centralized digital system, protecting the rights of all parties, organizing trading operations, enhancing product quality in accordance with technical and commercial standards, and providing accurate data on quantities, prices, and varieties—enabling more informed decision-making.

Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Sahlawi, CEO of the National Centre for Palms & Dates, stated that this year’s expanded activation of the Seasonal Markets Platform reflects the Center’s commitment to improving the agricultural marketing environment and facilitating sales operations for all target groups — farmers, marketers, and purchasers.

He added that the platform supports the Center’s strategic objectives by enhancing the efficiency of seasonal date markets, driving digital transformation in the palm and date sector, boosting local market activity, and promoting transparency and good governance.  The platform currently includes nine seasonal markets, with more than 9,000 registered farmers, over 12,000 registered purchasers, and a total of more than 314,000 transactions across the Kingdom during the past two years.
