In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, Governor of Al-Ahsa, the National Centre for Palms & Dates hosted a workshop titled “Developing the Palm and Date Sector in Al-Ahsa,” with broad participation from sector specialists and stakeholders. 

Attended by the Center's CEO, Dr. Mohammed Al-Nuwairan, the workshop saw the participation of leading date producers, farmers, and traders from across the Kingdom, alongside major importers from the UAE, government and advisory entities, and representatives from the Royal Commission for Al-Ahsa. 

The workshop opened with an overview of the National Centre for Palms & Dates, its role, and initiatives, followed by discussions on cultivating palm varieties that meet local and international market needs. The event also featured inspiring export success stories, contributions from cooperative associations, and displays of innovative, value-added date products. 

The Governor affirmed that each region in the Kingdom has unique strengths in the date sector, highlighting Al-Ahsa’s leading position in this field. He also underscored the strong support extended by the Saudi government ــــ through relevant national entities ــــ to fuel growth across this strategic sector. 

He stressed that farmers and investors play a vital role in leveraging available services and studies to drive sector growth and strengthen the Kingdom’s global position as a leading date producer and exporter. 

The workshop concluded with key recommendations to address challenges across the value chain and capitalize on opportunities for sector growth in line with Vision 2030.
