The National Centre for Palms & Dates announced that Saudi Arabia’s exports of dates and related products reached SAR 1.28 billion in 2022 — a 5.4% increase over the previous year. The announcement came alongside the Centre’s participation in the International Fruit and Vegetable Exhibition held in Rimini, Italy, from 3 to 5 May 2023. The exhibition attracted more than 830 exhibitors and over 38,000 visitors from around the world, including Saudi producers accredited with the Saudi Dates Mark. It is regarded as one of the most prominent international events for fruit and vegetable producers and suppliers. The Centre’s participation in this major event reflects its commitment to building strategic partnerships locally and internationally, enhancing the presence of Saudi dates in local and global markets, increasing the sector’s contribution to GDP, diversifying non-oil revenues, and supporting Saudi exports — in line with the objectives of Vision 2030. In parallel with its international engagement efforts, the Centre continues to implement key initiatives aimed at increasing Saudi date exports, promoting local consumption, improving agricultural and industrial practices, and enhancing quality across the value chain. The Centre also provides marketing support and sectoral data to farmers and producers, while strengthening its local and international partnerships.
