Saudi Date Exports Hit SAR 566 Million in Q1 2023, Up 2.5%

According to data from the National Centre for Palms & Dates, Saudi dates were shipped to 111 countries worldwide. Six markets recorded the highest growth in export value: 

  • China: SAR 7,654,212 increase (150%)
  • Austria: SAR 1,996,000 increase (60%)
  • Belgium: SAR 1,232,592 increase (23%)
  • Turkey: SAR 22,303,831 increase (30%)
  • Russia: SAR 2,697,239 increase (95%)
  • Canada: SAR 3,993,901 increase (40%)

The Center emphasized that the results reflect the Kingdom’s strong commitment to boosting non-oil revenues and developing its palm and date sector by increasing production, streamlining supply chains, and empowering farmers. 

Vision 2030gives special importance to developing and sustaining this vital sector through programs and initiatives aimed at increasing the share of dates and their products in national exports. 

These national efforts are founded on close collaboration between government entities and the private sector — including producers and exporters — to streamline procedures, strengthen value chains, improve product quality, stimulate investment, provide studies and data, and enhance both human and institutional capacities within this vital sector.
