In the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Talal bin Badr, the Governor of Al-Ahsa, the National Center for Palm and Dates organized a workshop titled 'Development of the Palm and Dates Sector in Al-Ahsa.' The workshop was attended by the CEO of the National Center for Palm and Dates, Dr. Mohammad Alnuwairan, as well as numerous date producers, farmers, traders from across the Kingdom, major importers from the United Arab Emirates, relevant government entities, advisory bodies, and the Royal Commission for Al-Ahsa. The workshop commenced with an introductory presentation about the National Center for Palm and Dates, followed by sharing rich experiences in cultivating palm varieties, meeting the requirements of both local and international markets. Additionally, it featured experiences of exporting to global markets by leading international exporters. This was followed by success stories of some cooperative societies in the sector and a presentation of various advanced processed date products. The workshop concluded with discussions on the outcomes and recommendations. His Highness, the Governor of Al-Ahsa, highlighted during the workshop that each region has its unique characteristics and relative advantages in terms of potential and date varieties. Al-Ahsa is distinguished by many unique features in the date industry. He commended the role of the Saudi government, represented by relevant authorities and centers, for providing necessary studies and research to develop the sector. The remaining role lies with investors and farmers to benefit from these services, translate them to serve their interests, and contribute to the leadership of this vital sector. t's worth noting that this workshop is part of the efforts to overcome challenges facing the palm and dates sector in Al-Ahsa, presenting solutions from all aspects in the entire value chain, and leveraging opportunities and available resources to enhance and develop the palm and dates sector in the Kingdom.
